Truck Driving School 101

A truck driving job is the best way to combine work with traveling because you get to new places and locations you've never seen before. Even though it may seem a strenuous job it also has its perks. If you already have a license for a small category vehicle, you are only one step away from fulfilling your dream. One must first pass another exam at the driving school before becoming a truck driver. Afterwards, in order to do your job well, you must have a number of abilities.



What they didn't teach me in school I made up for it in these last ten years of driving. So yes a JD Truck Training Centre school will teach you of all the CDL requirements that you need to know to pass a DOT test and get on the road. But what you need is a head start in trucking to get you prepared to the many challenges you will face.

Also, most good schools have a job placement program. There is a HUGE demand for drivers nationwide and their job placement department will have a long list of companies willing to hire you the day you graduate. You can tell them the type of job you are looking for and they will have several choices for you. Believe me, getting a job coming out of school is very, very easy. But getting the right job for you at the right company will be much more likely if you have some experienced help with good contacts.

The advantage to this type of Truck driving school is the cost. It will be less expensive compared to a private school. If you are in a rush to become a truck driver, then you should also consider the time. A public institution with trucking schools take longer to complete compare to a private school. You should compare the cost, curriculum and the time that it will take to complete the course from both a private and public facility to see which is best for you.

You must be a U.S. citizen, speak English, and have a valid copyright from the state in which you reside. In addition, you must be at least 21 years old to drive across state lines. Some trucking companies will hire 18 year olds to drive within a state.

The schooling began with nothing but classroom study for the first week or two. If you decide to attend driving school at a HR Truck Licence company....let the propaganda begin! They won't waste any chance at promoting themselves, believe me. They will also make you feel like it is your privilege to be working for them. Get used to that. Now here's your first piece of raw truth about the industry... companies are completely and totally desperate for truck drivers. I mean DESPERATE!

Once you successfully pass the driving course then you will go to work for the company that hired you during your truck driving school training period as a driver trainee. You will be coupled up with a more seasoned driver for a certain amount of time, probably not less than a month and longer in some cases.

Accredited Schools: Most all private trucking schools are accredited and licensed by the state. Some public institution trucking schools are also accredited and licensed by the state. You should ask if they are accredited and licensed. You can also call the state and ask about the particular place that you want to attend. They will also tell you if that school had or has any complaints.
